Rather than sorting through the stats to find the best drivers, consider our shortlist of the top 25.

Fernando Alonso

Compared to most of the drivers on this list, Fernando Alonso is a relative newcomer to F1. He entered the scene in 2005 at age 24, and he is still active today. Despite his recent addition to the Formula 1 stage, he has an incredible series of races under his belt. He dominated five consecutive seasons and proved himself a serious contender for the top spot. Alonso won Renault back-to-back titles in 2005 and 2006, and also earned a long list of sporting accolades for Spain, his home country.

So far, Alonso has driven for Renault and McLaren, and he is now moving to Ferrari. He hasn’t yet earned a drivers’ championship, but he has placed second three different times. Alonso is an F1 driver to keep your eye on.
